It’s been too long since I started this, but I finally pulled my finger out, my socks up and my cap to the side…

Grandma Patty Calls Flames.

It’s the first proper Flash animation I’ve done for a while and was pleased to have something complete to put out for the sake of it. So there it is, hopefully I’ll have something else Flash-based to crack on with soon…

The audio from this clip is taken from the glorious Waller FM podcast, voiced by Christian Pickup and an unsuspecting, yet pleasantly amused, Flames member of staff, Ali.

Snowmotion.

After just nipping out to take a few sample shots with a Sigma 10-20mm lens, I ended up muddy-kneed and crouched for a good hour capturing a bunch of Snowdrops on continuous shooting.

I chucked a selection of sequences into After Effects, chopped and scaled, tweaked some colour and came out with this:

Here’s a couple of illustrations that were used for a pitch last year.

The concept and character designs were all totally changed but we secured the job and created a 30 second Flash advertisement for a document mail-out company that should hopefully be airing on Sky News in the next couple of months.

On the same note, I need to stick to projects and see them through before starting another.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have spent the past 3 weeks or so at the amazing Th1ng in Soho.

They really have their work ethics nailed there and are pumping out constantly impressive work. I got to work with some great people and see some familiar faces whilst trying to remain focused and fully in-my-depth.

It was awesome working in a Flash team and seeing how others use the program, even though my time in London meant I missed all possible chances to frolick in the Northern snow. Snow’s rubbish in London, if they did skiing holidays down there, I’d steer clear. It snows on a Tuesday and anything possibly closable will still be closed on the Saturday.

Well, Maestro got their ad and I got sent home. So it’s back to personal projects until anyone fancies funding anyfing faintly formidably fun for me.

I think it was Jeremy Beadle who once said “I can’t think of anything to say, I really can’t”.

Then he died.

After doing a few of these cards for people, I decided to try and get the whole village on board and see how many houses I can get drawn before Christmas! With their very own custom Christmas cards, they can show off while I try and keep creative…

Unable to steer clear and remain unaffected by the King of Pop’s death, I was once again whisked off one job to slip another in!

Can’t complain mind; again Mr Kenny was calling upon my liney flashy tracey skills for some motion graphics sequences for the ITN DVD release ‘Michael Jackson : History – The King of Pop 1958 – 2009′.

After finally starting a personal project I’d been planning for a while, I was fortunate enough to be asked to work on the next big Electric Eel Shock release. In conjunction with David Kenny, we’re hoping to get a killer animated intro to their DVD release, ‘Sex, Drugs & Email’.

Whilst this project is under way, my personal work will be on hold. Here’s a shot from the animation I was creating to one of the great Grandma Patty calls from the Waller FM podcasts…
